Brandon and Serena: Save the Date!

Wrapping up the gallery for these two gorgeous people as they prep for their upcoming wedding--dealing with an unexpected temperature drop above the surface and the chill below the water with them for their engagement portraits was so very cold but so much fun, and they were absolute troopers despite the challenges Florida threw their way. Totally worth it for a session this awesome!

Congrats to this beautiful, fun, happy, intrepid couple. Thanks for letting me be a part of your story!

Kyle and Chelsea

Spent an afternoon with the lovely Kyle and Chelsea out at Disney for their engagement session. Their wedding will be in early December of this year and they're busy planning for the big day.

They're an unbelievably cute couple, and since this was the first time I was actually able to meet them, I wasn't sure how their personalities would be...were they quiet and reserved? Silly? Calm and mellow? It turns out that they're not only a super relaxed and hilarious couple and a great match for each other, but they're a good fit for me, and we spent their session laughing and chatting and bouncing around in conversation from topic to topic. It was a great time and we spent a lot of the session laughing at silly portrait pose "traditions" as well as talking a little bit about their plans for the upcoming wedding, with more than a handful of divergent discussions in-between that had zero to do with wedding stuff. We had a great time!

Kyle and Chelsea, I can't wait for the wedding...you guys are so great together and I just know your day will be full of laughter and silly poses and funny faces and love. I'm so happy I get to be there with you to capture your day and promise I won't make you go TOO far into Cheesy Pose Territory...we'll keep things fun and original, and if your engagement session is any indicator, it'll be totally cool with me if you feel like stopping for an ice cream break. Congrats to you both...counting the days until the wedding!

Raspberries and Wine

It has been...a long long busy crazy long zany long (did I mention long?) week. Not a bad week, just a very full one, which is par for the course for me, but when I'm getting ready to go out of town and trying to wrap up stuff before I leave, I tend to notice the craziness more keenly. So while I was editing wedding photos this evening after getting home from a 3 month milestone session, I decided to have a glass of white wine, and on a whim, I tossed some fresh raspberries in there. It felt delightfully indulgent at the end of a hard day.

At first half of my brain was like, "This is dumb...we bought the raspberries for smoothies and salads, why waste them in wine?" And then the other half of my brain went, "No, dammit. We work hard. If we want some damn raspberries in our wine while we go into hour 18 of working today, then dagnabit, we will HAVE our damn raspberries." And so we did. And it was deliciousness personified.

Wedding photography is no easy thing, y'all, and the post-production process can be especially beastly. Awesome, but beastly. Sometimes you need the raspberries (and the wine) to get you through. So, cheers to the freakin' weekend. May you all have had a 'raspberries in your wine' moment of indulgence today, and if not today, have one tomorrow. You probably deserve it. (Also, ignore the dinosaurs. And the iPhone photo as opposed to the normal glorious "actual camera" photos I usually have on posts here. And the terrible composition of said iPhone photo. And the mess on my desk. And the Twilight Zone figs. And the effing gorgeous magenta Badgley Mischkas on my screen as I edit. Swoon. Talky Tina wants your shoes, Lenissi.)
